The report is highly appreciated, with multiple new charts added for mountain analysis

In the process of mountain PV plant design, it is necessary to analyze the mountain to form a general and comprehensive understanding of the project site situation. At present, in the design process of many mountain photovoltaic projects, the overall analysis of the mountain is often not paid attention to, and the site delineation and layout are only carried out after a general understanding of the slope aspect. The Candela3D mountain analysis function has been enhanced with the ability to generate 6 new charts and 24 new tables, providing comprehensive mountain analysis content and significantly enhancing the report. 1. Normal analysis of mountain body This function can divide the mountain into a certain number of groups based on average normal vectors. Each group is represented by its average slope angle and slope direction. 2. Analysis of mountain slope orientation 3. Analysis of mountain slope angles (including natural slope angles, east-west…

The practical functions of the Candela3D-CAD plugin are available for free use (2)

The Candela3D-CAD plugin is a companion tool for the main Candela3D program, and it is completely free to users. The Candela3D-CAD plugin offers many practical functions and does not rely on the Candela3D software to run. Some of its tools can significantly enhance everyone's work efficiency, and we highly recommend them. The previous article "Candela3D-CAD | Free Use - Practical CAD Plugins (1)" has introduced some of the primitive processing functions. This article is the second part: drawing generation and reverse import. At the end of the article, there are download links, installation, and uninstallation videos for using the plugin. 1. Generate drawing command set (1) DrawArrayAndTransformerCenter: This command is used to mark the center coordinates of rectangular Pcs. When executing this command, the plugin will automatically identify all rectangular Pcs in the drawing. The user then selects the rectangular Pcs that need to be marked, and the software will…

The Candela3D-CAD plugin is a companion tool for the main Candela3D program, fully available to users free of charge. The Candela3D-CAD plugin offers numerous practical functions and does not rely on the Candela3D software to run. Certain tools can significantly enhance everyone's work efficiency, and we highly recommend them. The previous articles "Candela3D-CAD | Free Use - Practical CAD Plugins (1)" and "Candela3D-CAD | Free Use - Practical CAD Plugins (2)" have introduced some of the primitive processing functions. This article is the third part: Other Functions. At the end of the article, there are download links, installation, and uninstallation videos for using the plugin. (1) AlignArrays: After using the "Transform Polygons to Arrays (Poly2block)" command, the transformed array blocks may appear unevenly arranged in rows and columns. Therefore, it is necessary to use the "Align Arrays" command to align the transformed array blocks in rows and columns. "Azimuth tolerance":…

This command is limited to merging available Areas and cannot select and merge Restricted areas. After executing this command, the software will display the following interface: "Area threshold": When the proportion of the intersection area of two areas to the area of…

The array layout has been enhanced with 7 new functions

Array layout is a crucial aspect of photovoltaic projects in mountainous regions. In the latest version of our software, we have enhanced the array layout function by introducing multiple configurable parameters, allowing users to more scientifically arrange arrays based on actual construction conditions. 1. Maximum foundation slope This function is primarily used to prevent the array (partially) from being arranged in areas with drastic terrain changes or excessive slope along the long side of the array. When the array is placed in a certain location, if the absolute value of its base slope exceeds the preset threshold, the software will automatically perform left/right stepping operations until the base slope drops below the preset threshold. 2. Alignment angle This function is primarily utilized in the design of photovoltaic projects for fish ponds or canals. It allows for specifying a particular edge, drawing an edge, or manually inputting an angle as the alignment…

From 1 to N, modular design of large-scale base projects

When implementing large-scale flat-land large-scale base projects, one can first design a standard power block, and then replicate and modify it to form the final design layout. In this way, the efficiency of the design can be greatly improved. 1. Standard power block, complete busbar, routing, and Cable laying 2. Array copy power block 3. Fill the edge arrays 4. Auto create power blocks for the edge array Through the aforementioned four steps, the layout, division of power blocks, busbar connection, and cable laying (some of which require manual adjustment) for GW-scale base projects can be quickly completed.

When the arrangement capacity is insufficient, how to adjust the period of time for Hill-shading analysis

For complex terrain projects, plots are usually selected based on the condition that there is no obstruction from 9 am to 3 pm. This has certain irrationalities. As shown in the following figure, due to the asymmetric orientation of the mountains in the case project, it is unreasonable to require that the mountains not obstruct each other from 9 am to 3 pm. As can be seen from the above figure: for the case project, when the capacity is insufficient, the requirement for unobstructed sunlight in the afternoon can be appropriately relaxed. Question: When the unobstructed time is adjusted from 9:00-15:00 to 9:00-14:30, will the area that passes the Hill-shading analysis increase (19.8%-16%=3.8%)? The answer is: not necessarily. This 3.8% of the area may still be blocked during other time periods. Candela3D has added a new function for Hill-shading analysis output. Please refer to the following video for details:

Optimization and comparison of inverter/combiner position

"Research on Location of Inverter Optimization Based on Differential Internal Rate of Return Method" introduces an optimization method for the location of strings inverters based on the differential internal rate of return method. Candela3D has developed functionalities for optimized positioning and comparative selection of inverters/combiner boxes based on this methodology. This method has two disadvantages: 1) Lacking quantitative evaluation indicators for each specific plan; 2) It is impossible to compare, review, and select the positioning plans for Combine devices under different Cable routes. The latest version of Candela3D has optimized and enhanced this functionality, addressing the aforementioned shortcomings while implementing "Net Present Value (NPV)" as a key metric for evaluating the effectiveness of specific solutions. Net Present Value (NPV) = Net Present Value of Electricity Generation Revenue - Cable Capital Expenditure (CPEX) Now, let's assume the following application scenario: 1) First, position the Device according to "Shortest cable"; 2) Perform…

Auto create power blocks, with dozens of options to choose from

Creating power blocks is recognized as a challenging task in engineering design, particularly for mountainous PV projects. Manually conducting comprehensive cost-benefit analyses and achieving scientific PV unit delineation would require highly time-consuming efforts. In version 3.6.1, we have improved the algorithm for auto-dividing blocks, enabling the simultaneous calculation of thousands of plans, and providing dozens of final plans for users to choose from. 1. Please watch the video below to learn about the relevant features 2. Function Overview (1) Users can flexibly set the rated capacity, quantity, and inverter Loading Ratio of transformers within the planning area. The software will automatically calculate and ensure a balanced quantity of strings connected to each inverter. (2) The software can plan multiple division plans based on the Foundation parameters set by the user for selection. As shown in the figure below, under the premise of calculating more potential results (which may not meet…
